(From Wichita.Gov) October at Mid-Continent Airport was the best October in the Airport’s history, with a 3.72% increase from the previous year. There were 127,129 passengers that flew in and out of Wichita Mid-Continent Airport (ICT), compared to 122,574 last October. The previous high for October was set in 2003, with 126,156 total passengers. However, from January through October, total passengers are down 3.16% at 1,207,321. Decreases in capacity (outgoing seats and daily departures) are the likely reason for the decline in overall passenger traffic for the first nine months of 2006. Nationwide, passenger traffic has declined about 7%.

“This increase in passenger traffic validates what we have known all along: that Mid-Continent Airport provides the convenient and friendly experience, and affordable air service that our passengers demand,” said Charlie Fletcher, Chairman of the Wichita Airport Advisory Board. “The strong local economy and our new advertising campaign are also contributors to the growth in passenger traffic,” he said.

Mid-Continent Airport provides non-stop service to 10 destinations via 12 airlines, all of which are major airline hub airports, so nearly any destination in the country is reachable from Wichita with only one stop. Passengers enjoy a stress-free environment, assistance from the helpful Courtesy Crew, convenient parking, free wireless internet, and now, more food, beverage and retail concessions in the gate areas.  For more information about ICT, visit the airport’s website at www.flywichita.com.
