Wichita Chamber Annual Meeting

Wichita

Don't miss the Wichita Chamber Annual Meeting tonight, starting at 4:30 at Century II.

James Carville and Mary Matalin will both be speaking on the current political climate in America as well as political hotspots such as, you guessed it, Iraq and the War in the Middle East. It's liable to be a very spicy evening. If you don't have tickets yet, I've check with the Chamber and there are still a few available.

It's worth noting on the link below that the Chamber has decided to post it's own opinion about the political climate in Kansas, stating that Kansas' traditional "Conservative Red" has gone to "Liberal Blue". I just don't think, despite the outcome of the elections, that is truly the case. The state voted "blue" by a pretty slim margin and if you seriously asked around about WHY people voted the way they did, it was more of a statement to the National Power than truly a shift in political views.

There were people all around during the campaign who would come up to candidates expressing their intent to vote for the democrat, not even knowing the candidates NAME, let alone know anything about that person's views and political agenda. Quite disgraceful; and several otherwise competent and even successful, influential people lost their jobs due to a swing in opinion and NOT based on their true merit...

I really do feel this has happened in more than just Kansas...my only hope is that in doing so, people like Gwen Welschheimer, whom I've met and KNOW is completely inappropriate for the County Commissioner position she's won, will PROVE to the people who blindly voted her into office and unseated a 16 year Veteran of the position, that an incompetent Democrat is just as bad as trying to prove a point to the Republican President.

This debate is liable to resonate beyond Wichita, so I wouldn't miss it if you can at all help it!
