Ali's well in...Tehran?

National News

TehranI made a comment on it before in an earlier post, but it would appear my estimate of 5 to 10 years for the Iranian regime might have been a bit of an overestimate.

In Tehran today, more than 2,000 students gathered in a peaceful demonstration to speak out against oppression and to voice their desire for personal freedoms.

It's amusing to me that Ahmadinejad, former terrorist and current President of Iran, has the time to write letters to the U.S. people and tell us what we're thinking, how the Iranian nation is so similiar to the U.S.,  and how we should feel about our current administration...yet, he has people marching in the streets shouting for freedom from Islamic law.

Iran is a weird animal. They want to be progressive; they will be the first Middle Eastern country to come out of the Dark Ages (in my humble opinion) and join the rest of the world as a modern, respected nation. Yet, at the same time they have these old, Shi'ite hardliners who are trying their hardest to prevent women from doing things like even attending sporting events! Just stupid things.

Until the Republic of Iran separates the Church from the State, they are going to continue to have uprisings like this. The former government had a much better plan and was far more progressive than the current group of thugs could ever hope to be.
