The Democracy...of Iran?

National News

A-DiddyFreshman Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is on the ropes today in Iran as the votes for this year's election are counted. In the preliminary count, the moderate conservatives have a definitive lead with only 20% of the vote counted.

The message from the people of Iran? "We will not tolerate extremism."

This is excellent news for the Bush administration and could go a very long way towards potentially mending the fragile relationship between Tehran and Washington should less volatile leaders emerge from the popular vote in the General Assembly (The Clerics who oversee day to day operations in Iran)

What is amazing to me most of all today is the media is NOT covering the election. This is quite possibly the second biggest election in the World this year (the first being the vote that told Bush to clean up his act) and no one in the U.S. seems to be covering it. This is the equivalent of the our elections in November where the people are standing up and saying "NO" to national policy. The linked article was sent from an independent IRANIAN journalist.

This puts a big fat exclamation point on my bias towards the American media. They report what they feel supports their Liberal aims and goals; publishing or reporting on something that would ultimately help the current administration does not further their goals, ergo no reporting.
