California to Paris...

National News

What a LOSER! Paris Hilton and fans have been petitioning anyone who will listen, including California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, to let her out of prison claiming that the sentence and her treatment were entirely too harse for her crime. WHAT? She was over twice the legal limit when she was pulled over...not to mention driving on a suspended license.

"Paris Hilton's fans have started a petition to California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to free the Hollywood Boulevard blonde, declaring that “Paris deserves a second chance like many other great Americans."

The Hilton heiress herself posted a blog on her official MySpace page thanking everyone for their “kind words of love and support.” She also stated that this was her “first blog with many more to come. I love you all.”

Perhaps Paris is finally recognizing that she lives in a real world with real people. She even took time out to proclaim her innocence to the paparazzi over the weekend, telling them that she doesn’t deserve such a severe sentence and that she was treated cruelly." - Fox News, 2007

It just facinates me to see all of these idiot famous people who honestly believe they are above the law. Perhaps Paris should watch a few episodes of COPS to see how a lot of drunk drivers behave and are treated accordingly. I'm sure she was treated swimmingly by comparison.

I know I'm only perpetuating the attention this idiot is receiving, but I'm only trying to use her as an example of all the idiocy that seems to be getting a lot of exposure recently....Paris, Lindsey Lohan, David Hasslehoff, Ty Pennington....All exceptional role models.

-----

Speaking of Media Circus, did anyone see that GWB is going to be in Greensburg tomorrow to survey the damage? I sincerely hope the media blitz and "tragedy of the week" syndrome dies away soon so these people can get down to the business of repair and recovery. All of the attention (and scandal) have made it so honest, hard-working, and good-intentioned Kansans can't even go out there to lend a hand.

...anyway, I'm ranting now, so we'll end it there.

Dubya,

You know WAY more about Paris Hilton than I do. She reminds me of a Chihuahuah. I don't like Chihuahuahs, therefore I don't pay attention to Miss Hilton. Spoiled rich girls make me tired. Hollywood gossip makes me even more tired.

And you're giving these people your time!

Unfortunately it was the top story on FOX News this morning...I had no choice but to read and therefore, be annoyed by, the story.

I HATE perpetuating any discussion about these losers, but I did want to put my two cent in regarding my opinion on their loserdom... Famous does not equal Smart...

I heard an audio clip after they sentencing. I don't remember how she stated it exactly but it was something along the lines of "but I told the judge the truth!", which I suppose she imagines would entitle her to have her charges dropped.

If you stood in front of her and reached out as to touch her, do you think your hand would go through her due to a lack of depth? Maybe so!

~Dubya, good to see someone other than I feels that the whole Presidential trip to Greensburg will be adding to the entire "media circus" feel of the coverage, and be of little to no real assistance to the good folks trying to get their lives back in order.

Forgot to mention re: PH the fact, reported last night on MSNBC, that her MOTHER is trying to sell the story to the media. Geez.

Maybe she will use her "down" time wisely and think about ways to improve. Seems like that would be the best first step to a second chance. She didn't hurt herself or anyone else this time so she needs to make sure there isn't a next time.

I think the 24 hour news channels have to dig deep to find somethng to fill all that time, thus we hear too much about "all of these idiot famous people who honestly believe they are above the law." I would prefer some investigative reports whereby a topic is thoroughly /fairly reported -- all sides, all the ins and outs -- to what we get.

But they didn't ask me. They never do!

Is there any chance that Paris Hilton can get the Death Penalty for her next offense? Generally, I am against the capital punishment on grounds that it is unfairly and arbitrarily applied, but I will make an exception in this case.

Let's have some positive coverage of those great young women on the Rutger's women's b'ball team.

One future doctor, one future lawyer, one future musician, etc.

We need more stories of great ladies like that and less coverage of a woman's who's greatest accomplishment so far in life is a home movie starring her and an unnamed )#%*@.

WS,

Strangely enough, I agree, it would be nice just to see stories that aren't entirely, I don't even know the words, entirely filled with something useless like a celebrity of sorts being served a tough sentence for being what twice over the legal limit?

But I agree, I'd like to see more stories about people who are doing well for themselves. However, I that doesn't sell. I don't take very kindly to drunk drivers when having someone I know killed by a drunk driver. Well, it just puts a damper on any relationships that would be positive about it. Let her serve her sentence like anybody else in this country would do, and let it be.

45 days for DUI (2xlegal limit) and driving on a suspended? She got a light sentence, IMHO. Now, it's been a while since I was involved in DUI, etc. defense, but on a traffic case such as this, she's lucky there wasn't a minimum of 60 days, plus other conditions that would most definitely cramp her lifestyle. And Danny? Put me in the group which doesn't "take very kindly to drunk drivers", given a prior incarnation where I worked in a mortuary. 'Nuff said.

Dubya,

I apologize for my post this a.m. I hadn't had my high dose of caffeine yet. It isn't your fault that the media seems to think we live and die for news on celebs...or would be celebs. Does Paris DO anything? Other than get her name in the paper, that is. ;)

Told ya I was out of the loop on this one. I'll go crawl back under my rock until AFTER tomorrow's caffeine.

VT,

I'll be honest, my tough sentence should have been in quotes. I meant to be sarcastic in that statement, because really, I think it isn't tough enough. Ok, just me but still, she needs to quit whining because seriously she is getting off pretty easy.
